Avengers Doomsday: Will It Be An Epic Comeback?

The Last Few Years Has Been A Bore For Cinema-goers?

The Avengers Doomsday movie has been long anticipated, and after a silence spanning since 2019, there’s a huge weight on its shoulders.

Let’s face it, the past year has been full of bland, lacklustre movies that have left many of us wondering if Hollywood has forgotten how to make an exciting blockbuster.

(Well, for me that is. I couldn’t last 30 minutes into Thor Love and Thunder movie without constantly looking at the time and don’t get me started on the Wicked. )

Nopee…Just shut up with the singing and start the movie already..

With ageing superheroes, lost potential, and even cineplexes shutting down, it’s hard not to feel like the glory days of cinema are slipping away.

However, with Avengers Doomsday on the horizon, there’s hope that the Marvel universe will rise again — perhaps even stronger than before.

The Past Few Movies Has Been..Mehh

It feels like a lifetime since Avengers Endgame wrapped up the Infinity Saga. I remember leaving the theatre buzzing with excitement, feeling like the Marvel Universe had just expanded in ways I never imagined.

“Teenteenntennnnteennnteeennntennnnn”. Can you hear the classic Avengers soundtrack?

After all, we had witnessed the rise and fall of our favourite heroes — Bucky, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and more. But since then? Crickets.

I really felt disappointed when they killed Ironman from the franchise.

And the new Spiderman guy? Never liked him.

No one can replace Tobey Maguire.

Sure, there have been movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but let’s be honest — they just haven’t been enough.

These films had their moments, but they were more like a quick fix rather than a satisfying meal. Spider-Man had its nostalgic, fan-pleasing moments, but once the dust settled, I couldn’t help but feel like I was craving something bigger.

My thoughts on movies over the past few years...

Thor: Love and Thunder was fun, but the humour felt forced, and the plot didn’t pack the same punch as its predecessors. And, I just didn’t like how they portrayed the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder.

They made Gorr look like some weird, malnourished dude, yet he somehow had powers that surpassed Thor—who’s this massive, jacked god.

At least make the bad guy look like a real threat, not some eerie servant who stumbled out of a horror movie. Give him some presence, some aura—not just a creepy pervert uncle.

Then there was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — a great emotional farewell. I wish we had more of GOTG.

This splendid movie never fails to crack me up, especially with Drax’s ridiculous attitude.

The guy has the emotional intelligence of a brick but the confidence of a king. Whether he’s taking metaphors literally, laughing at others' misery, or just being his clueless-yet-lovable self, he steals every scene.

Who knew pure stupidity could be so legendary?

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is peak cringe, like a high-budget Power Rangers episode with extra water effects. Jason Momoa is charming, but the dialogue? Oof. At least the war scene delivers—feels like Avengers: Endgame underwater.

But it’s so chaotic and overly graphic, I half expected a “Press X to Continue” prompt mid-battle.

Then there’s the classic time travel feels movie. I went into Sonic the Hedgehog 3rd movie expecting a fun, nostalgic ride, but I left questioning if I secretly have a thing for furries. Sonic’s expressive eyes? That fluffy blue fur? Look, I’m not saying anything, but I am saying something.

Anyway..the plot was surprisingly engaging, with twists I didn’t see coming—especially Jim Carrey pulling double duty.

Absolute comedic chaos, and I loved it.

It’s not that these movies were bad, but they didn’t fill the void left by the Avengers saga.

Marvel’s been testing the waters with smaller-scale stories, but fans are still waiting for the next Avengers Assemble moment, the film that brings the heroes together in a way that feels meaningful and thrilling.

Avengers Doomsday has the chance to be that comeback — not just another fun movie, but an epic return to the grandeur we’ve been missing since 2019.

What do you think—can Avengers Doomsday bring back the magic, or has the movie industry lost all hope to make us come back for more?
